Hi, I’m Kaite, your typical 20-something. I work in the nonprofit world, have a Coca-Cola addiction, and spend more money than I’d like to admit at JoAnn. But perhaps most notably, I’m dog mom to Kylie, a retired racing greyhound who tricked me into adopting her in May of 2017. Life has never been the same since.
In our years together, we’ve gone on endless ice cream runs, acquired a taste for Raising Cane’s (reinforced by our infamous Cane’s Saturdays nearly every Saturday), navigated the scary tile floors in the mall to see the Easter Bunny, kicked butt at the Halloween costume contests, become Insta-famous in the greyhound community, found the best parks for walkies (the ones with the water misters or ponds!), discovered the power of bravery booties, and so, so much more.
In August of 2018, tragedy struck when Kylie broke all four of her metatarsals running in the yard, leading to an eventual amputation of her back left leg. I thought she’d never be the same. A few days after Kylie returned home, she got a surprise package in the mail from a friend with a fun jacket and a note: "Life's too short to wear boring clothes." It was just the laugh and push we needed to get back to our creative endeavors. Over the years, Kylie has taught me lessons in resilience, living life fearlessly, and flaunting what you got (you know she works that stump for all those extra pity pets!).
Ever the stylish houndie, and with a mom who loves to create, Kylie and I have been making collars, leashes, and coats for her (and her friends’) every occasion–birthdays, gotcha days, ampuversaries, and regular wardrobe updates. According to Kylie, it’s never a good time to be out of season! After much hounding (see what I did there?), we decided to take the plunge and open a small Etsy shop last year to make Kylie’s fashion accessible to a larger audience.
We’re eager to create what’s never been created and work with you to make something that perfectly encapsulates your houndie and their personality. We hope you like what you find.
xoxo, kylie and me
